Sunday Race Results

The morning started out with Joel winning a champ class and Mitch coming in second with his 440. But the big race was not to be won and they had to settle with 6th place.
Getting ready to head to the Soo for qualifying tomorrow.

World Champion Snowmobile Racers

This photo is from Saturday. Mitch got the hole shot on his #65 Ski Doo.

This is from the award ceremony where Joel received his championship ring and jacket. He is in the middle in the back row.

Joel took 6th place in the World Championship final race. Everyone was pretty happy with that since it was his first year running the champ class and he made the top ten qualifiers for the race. Mitch took 3rd place in the pro stock 600 class, and he is the winner and world champ in the pro stock 500 class. He won a new helmet and a Coldwave jacket, and brought home two nice trophies to add to his collection. He made everyone laugh at the banquet when he wrote his sponsors on the palm of his hand, and was caught looking at it when he couldn't remember them all! It was a good effort all the way around, and it's nice to be home now. It seems warm here compared to the temps in Wisconson. Next race is in Lincoln this weekend!

Eagle River Races

It is Sunday morning and I am writing from the Days Inn in Eagle River, Wisconsin. It is about 15 degrees below zero this morning! But, it's all good. I'm only surviving because we are able to sit in the hot seats to watch the race action! Joel and Mitch both made it to the finals today. Joel made it into the top ten qualifiers for the world championship race today. At a ceremony last night he received an Eagle River top ten qualifier ring that had been flown with jet pilots in Iraq, a Coldwave race jacket, embroidered with Eagle River Derby Track logo, and Top Ten Qualifier, and plaques stating his accomplishment and what missions his ring was flown on. Today is the big race at 3:00! Mitch also made it into his final races for a chance at the world championship in the 500 and 600 pro stock events. I will post some photos when we get back, and with a little luck, they will be championship photos!

Race Results for Saturday (Plymouth, WI)

Rob called my cell on the way home tonight, and Mitch got a 3rd place in the 440 class, and a 4th in the 600 class. Joel got a 5th in the 600 class. They said it is pretty wet and sloppy there and they were all soaked and headed to the showers. They are looking forward to Sunday and expect to do well. I will post as I get information, if you are interested!

A No Photo Day

Around January 1, I was tempted to add the 365 Photo Project to my list of things to do this year, which is where you take at least one photo every day for the whole year. Then I decided I didn't need to put any more pressure on myself to have to add one more thing to my list of things I would like to accomplish in 2008. I realized I made a good decision the other day, when Nicole and Bryce came over for the day. They had been sick and were still getting over the sniffles, so I hadn't seen them for over a week. Normally I have my camera on stand by when they are here so I can grab it quickly if needed, but that day I didn't even get it out. Nicole wanted me to rock her in the rocking chair, and before long Bryce climbed onto my lap too, so we all snuggled with their blankies in the chair and rocked and talked for a while. I just focused on enjoying the day with them, and after Nicole went to school, Bryce and I played "store" and read some story books together. I have truly learned to live in the moment, and sometimes that means not thinking about grabbing the camera!

Movie Day

Saturday I met my Mom and sisters, Bonnie and Judy, for our annual movie day. Usually we do this on New Year's Day, but with the snowstorm we had on January 1, we had to postpone it. This has become an annual tradition, and we figure we have been doing it for more than ten years. Today we saw 3 movies! We also decided 3 is too many, because by the time the third movie was over, our behinds were a little sore! We started out with Juno, quirky little movie, but cute and funny. Then we saw Charlie Wilson's War, good movie, very educational. The last one was P.S. I Love You. I think I liked this one the best and would see it again. A little popcorn, a box of Goobers, and now it is time to start my annual New Year's diet! Well, maybe I'll wait until Monday.

Happy New Year!

I'm pondering my new year's resolutions for 2008. This quote is inspiring me:

"A year from now you may wish that you had started today" --Karen Lamb

How true this is! I do wish that I had started what I intended to do last year at this time.
