A Heartfelt Christmas

Mitch and Christy Mitch's last Christmas at home

Everybody needs socks!

My new pink fuzzy slippers from Mitch!

Mitch has been talking about moving out in 2008, so I told him it was a law that the last child at home has to give the mother 6 months notice to prepare, so he has been preparing me for the last few months! So, this was his last Christmas morning to be at home with us, and he truly made it special. We love you, Mitch!
This Christmas season has been very heartfelt, with lots of "I love you" being spoken, and lots of hugs, the kind with an extra squeeze, where words are not necessary. The sound of laughter from children, and sharing their excitement about Santa coming. Getting together with both sides of the family, and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas in person. And eating way too many Christmas cookies and fudge!

My Grandmother's Music Box

This was my Grandma Greer's music box that I was happy to get after she passed away. I remember visiting her when I was a little girl and she would always let me wind it up and listen to the music. It plays the hymn "Standing On The Promises". I would listen to it over and over, and then I would be humming it on the way home in the car. When I received the music box, it wasn't working, and I'm sure I'm the one who probably overwound it and broke it, but luckily I was able to get it fixed at a jewelry store. There are also little cards inside with scripture on them. When I was going through treatment for cancer, I would pull out a card almost everyday, and find strength and comfort in the words printed there. I love that I can now share this music box with my granddaughter, Nicole.

Bryce Is Eating Dinosaurs!

Bryce has discovered oatmeal with dinosaurs in it! (Uncle Mitch used to eat this too, when he was little. Actually, he still does eat it sometimes!) There are little dinosaur eggs in the oatmeal, and when we pour the hot water in the eggs hatch into little candy dinosaurs. And of course, everything else tastes better if it is served on a spiderman plate and in a spiderman cup!

Creating

Morgan is becoming a great little journal maker! She made this one tonight for a gift for her teacher. I think she is well on her way to becoming a scrapbooker. She has already learned many techniques including using glue sticks, a brayer, sander, chalking, and choosing papers and ribbons that go well together. I'm grateful that we are able to have fun creating together!

Yummy!

No bake cookies--the oatmeal makes them healthy right? Today I am thankful for chocolate. Some days you just have to have it!

You are right, Mallerie!

Wow, that was way too easy! We have a winner all ready! I did buy this hoola-hoop today at the craft show. It is larger than the kids size, and it is heavier. The woman who was selling them said she lost 20 pounds and many inches just using the hoola hoop for 20 minutes a day from February until summertime. (So, approximately 4 months) I tried it out tonight, and got a couple of minutes in, and I think I hurt myself! Maybe I am too old for this! No, I am going to try it, because it my middle area needs the most help! I also have a jump rope I think I will use also. This will make me feel like a little girl again! If only my mother had named me Lolly.

Time For A Contest!

Can anyone guess what this is? I bought it at the craft show today.

My Scrap Studio (a work in progress)

As you can see, the walls are just plain off white, so I really need some suggestions as to paint color. The first photo is of the curtains I put up after I took off the closet doors. They were bi-fold and it was hard to get into all the shelves and to walk around them. The color of the curtains is a dusky teal blue, because the carpet is teal. (It used to be Mitch's bedroom, and he was a Miami Dolphins fan)
The third photo is of a small area for the grandkids. I put up a roll of art paper, and gave them some drawers for their supplies.
The fourth photo is of my ribbon holder, which is actually a 5 foot length of eavestrough. (Thank you to Deann for the idea.) I am also trying to think of a way to embellish this. The plastic is smooth, so it doesn't hold paint or rub on's very well. My husband suggested priming it or sanding it. Anyone have any other ideas? I'm thinking I will focus on painting and finishing the room after Christmas.

Thankful for JoAnn's Coupons

At Grandma's house it is all about scrapbooking and crafts. I think we go through a package of glitter glue each time! I'm grateful to share my love of creating with my grandchildren, and I'm thankful for coupons from JoAnns and Michaels to make it more affordable! This is Bryce and Nicole making glittery Christmas ornaments. On Sunday, Marnie and Morgan spent the whole afternoon with me scrappin' in my art and craft room. I will post a photo soon, as it is a work in progress. I just wish it was a little bigger, there is never enough room for the mess we like to make!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The top photo is a Turkey cake. I saw it at the store and thought it was cute so I had to have it and it is our table centerpiece. The bottom photo is Morgan in her indian hat that she made in school. I think we all made one of these when we were in first grade. Morgan is thankful for her friends and her family and her home. Happy Thanksgiving!

Morgan Is 7 Today!

Our granddaughter, Morgan is 7 years old today! Look at that beautiful smile she has! She loves school, arts and crafts, and anything on the Disney channel. She tried skiing up at Hubbard Lake this year, with a little help from Joel. We didn't meet Morgan until she was 5, but are so grateful she and her sister Marnie have come into our family. They are a lot of fun, and have made our lives sweeter! Happy Birthday, Lula, we love you!

Movie Night

Rob and I went to the movies tonight to see American Gangster. I guess it was a true story. Who knew all of that was going on in the world when I was 13 years old! Sometimes going to movies like that gives you a little history lesson along with it. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe are such good actors. It was good, worth seeing, but only for adults!

Nicole Is 5 Years Old Today!

Our granddaughter, Nicole. Five years ago this beautiful little girl came into our family and we were thrilled! I used to call her our princess, but now I call her my Honey Girl, because her hair went from dark to honey colored blonde. This year she started early fives and got to ride the bus to school. She had been wanting to ride the bus from the time she could walk and talk. Nicole is cute and fun, and we love her very much. We are so grateful to have her in our lives!

Turning Back The Clock

I love it when we get to turn the clock back an hour in the fall! I wish we could do it every Sunday morning, and just live with it.
Guess what? I found out that Ali Edwards, (one of my favorite scrapbook designers) celebrated her birthday on November 4th! That means we are both a Scorpio. I wonder if the Scorpio sign is known for creativity? I never had a creative bone in my body until I started scrapbooking.

Friends and Family

Nothing gives a gal a boost like good friends and time well spent with family. For my birthday I met my scrapbook buddies at our favorite scrapbook place "The Tree". We went to lunch, shopped at Archivers, and enjoyed some great conversation. Oh, and we did a little scrapbooking, too! These photos are of the gifts they gave me. The frame with my word, "moments" is from Traci. I can leave it plain like it is, or add papers and photos to personalize it. I love it, it is going to look great in my scrapbook room, when I get it finished! The other photo is of 2 small albums that Val made. The striped album has photos of our annual trip up north to Hubbard Lake last summer. Traci rented a convertible and we all had a blast riding in it! The other album is for me to document this milestone year of turning the big 5-0! I like the smaller size albums because they are fun to make and receive, and easy to display around the house. It was so very thoughtful of both of them, thanks gals!
That evening our family all got together for pizza, birthday cake, and some bowling, (something the kids and adults can all do together). I had asked everyone to make me a home made card instead of a getting a store bought card, and that was really fun looking at all of them. I loved all the little moments we shared tonight!

Vegas, Baby!

My husband and I just got back from Las Vegas this week. It was fun with a capital FUN! I'm still tired out from all the walking and the lack of sleep. We were celebrating two big milestones: my birthday, (I don't have to say which one) and making the final payment on our business that we have been paying on monthly for 5 years! I can't really say what we did there, because, you know, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

I'm A Blogger!

This is my very first attempt at creating a blog. I thought it was time I got with the 2000's! I chose Loving The Little Moments for my blog name, because this year I am focusing more on living in the moment. Moments has been my "one little word" for 2007. I like it so much, I'm thinking of keeping it for 2008 as well!
